It's fun to see that Spec Ops still has no compunction about lying about what it is, and what it's doing.

First of all, there was this from the TD about the company back in March. I e-mailed the worm reporter, and didn't get a response. I love Joe Swider's bullshit, and Paul's posturing. It's so convenient to hide behind being a "private company" when trying to lie about your employment numbers and revenue.

Spec Ops President Paul Garner said revenue has grown about 740 percent in the company's seven years, although as a private venture, sales figures are not released.

"We're planning on doubling our business this year," he said. "This is going to be our first big year in homeland security and [Federal Emergency Management Agency] efforts." The company has 30 employees and expects to expand its staff.

Even funnier is the fact that they're still showing the Chesapeake office on their facilities page, even though they were evicted from that location last year. The management company has been trying to collect the default judgment since last September. Check out case #CL08001054-00 in Chesapeake Circuit Court. Search for it here. That it's been moved to Circuit Court from GD tells me that the judgment is now greater than $30,000. If you take a look at the services, because they'd moved again, the sheriff wasn't able to serve the papers. Even though "Special Ops, Inc." received the service via mail, I'm sure they just won't show up for court. It's their M.O.. I'm curious as to whether they ever showed up to one of the hearings about the Chesapeake office. From looking at the way things played out, it appears that they never did.

It amazes me the unmitigated gall they have. Last time I talked to Paul Garner was after he left me a voicemail threatening to have me arrested for not calling them back within fifteen minutes. They'd lost the password to one of their servers (which I'd given them), and I was too busy to call back. He tried to pass it off as no big deal when I called him back (which he'd told me not to do...he'd told me to call the receptionist). It's like, no, Paul, I'm not just going to let it slide.

I really do need to write more about all this, in hopes that people will find it and see.

Watching the NBA Finals, and have seen a commercial for a new ABC reality show. Seems that they're trying to recreate Japanese game shows. One step closer towards Ow! My balls!

....watching this discussion group at Shmoocon. While I think they're well-intentioned, they honestly don't get it. The enemies aren't the usual suspects anymore. It's not hackers versus corporations and governments. The problem is the hordes of organized groups elsewhere from outside that are the threat now. If any primary social responsibility exists, it is to work to a) keep these groups from gaining power, and b) protect domestic targets. Jesus.

I spent seven years working for Sinclair Telecable, specifically at Newsradio 790 WNIS and 850 WTAR. In October 2005, however, I got an offer out-of-the-blue to make approximately twice what I was earning as a network engineer for Spec Ops., Inc..

I've said many times, I would have stayed at WNIS for a bit more money. I didn't expect them to match it, or even come close, but they wouldn't. At the time, I was a bit miffed about that, but I'll discuss why I'm not in a later entry.

There's that old saying, "if you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all." For the most part, I tend to follow that. But I won't do so with Spec Ops. Especially not after what's transpired since I left the company. I tried hard to be cordial on my departure, but a series of events have led me to start this blog category. Now onto why I'm starting this today.

I worked for Spec Ops for parts of three years. All three years, they've been late getting out my IRS W-2 form. I walked over to the IRS office in Norfolk today to see what my options are. In short, they won't do anything until 15 February. But something as simple as this should have been my tipoff early on in my time at Spec Ops that they're seriously fucked up. The excuse first year was that they hadn't done the bonuses correctly. No excuse second year. This year, I don't really give a flying fuck what their excuse is. Once again, still, even after departing, my financial situation is going to be affected by the criminal mismanagement coming from Ashland, Virginia. I don't anticipate owing money, but what if I do, and I don't get my W-2 until March again? Will I have time enough to save up for it to pay by tax day? Or will I have to do what I had to do so many times while working for them, put it on my credit card?

But, this time, I'm sure they won't reimburse me any interest accrued from their missteps. Not like they would have anyway. Kim Spicer gleefully told me that when I asked for interest on the outstanding leave the company owed me when I left in lieu of having them pay it out over time. Oh well, we'll see. I'll post more later. I know the robots are indexing this, so I'll just continue to post things. Joe Swider should love seeing this kind of material on google.
