{"id":1904,"date":"2020-02-04T16:15:01","date_gmt":"2020-02-04T21:15:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/control-h.org\/wordpress\/?p=1904"},"modified":"2020-02-04T16:15:01","modified_gmt":"2020-02-04T21:15:01","slug":"any-publicity-is-good-publicity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2020\/02\/04\/any-publicity-is-good-publicity\/","title":{"rendered":"Any publicity is good publicity"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Next up was <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"this one (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/shmoocon.org\/speakers\/#doesthemarketcare\" target=\"_blank\">this one<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was thinking about it as I listened to some of the systems engineers go back and forth about application of statistical analysis over my cube wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I did do this sort of thing previously.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know that I&#8217;ve avoided some companies that have paid big settlements due to data leaks\/breeches.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In so many instances, there&#8217;s settlements &#8212; you&#8217;ll get free credit monitoring for 24 months!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what does one of these incidents do to a company&#8217;s share price?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">NOT MUCH<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Completely counter-intuitive, really.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was wondering afterwards whether there might be some sort of window where there&#8217;d be a chance to make money on a short.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As I&#8217;ve considered that more, however, I don&#8217;t care.
