{"id":1981,"date":"2018-08-07T17:26:56","date_gmt":"2018-08-07T21:26:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/control-h.org\/blog\/wordpress\/?p=1102"},"modified":"2018-08-07T17:26:56","modified_gmt":"2018-08-07T21:26:56","slug":"nineteen-8-7","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2018\/08\/07\/nineteen-8-7\/","title":{"rendered":"Nineteen (8\/7)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This floated in front of me earlier today, but it&#8217;s the same sort of information reported last week.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2018\/07\/31\/democrats-tech-policy-plans-leaked\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2018\/07\/31\/democrats-tech-policy-plans-leaked<\/a><br \/>\nDiscussions on and off on Facebook about Twitter shutting down accounts.<br \/>\nI also saw a story earlier today about how &#8220;Millennials&#8221; (I put that in quotes, because college students today probably aren&#8217;t Millennials;\u00a0 how many of them remember Y2K?\u00a0 They&#8217;re the kids of Gen X.\u00a0 No, there weren&#8217;t many of us, but some have learned how babby is formed, and those would be the folks in college now&#8230;.)\u00a0on campus at Columbia couldn&#8217;t name the five freedoms guaranteed by the First Amendment.\u00a0 Freedom of Speech was even one of the things they were having problems with.\u00a0 When reminded about that, well, okay, so long as nobody is offended.\u00a0 What.\u00a0 The.\u00a0 Actual.\u00a0 Fuck?<br \/>\nBut this was actually right around the bit about the ACLU deleted their tweet praising France&#8217;s law restricting free speech.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/03\/aclu-catcalling-free-speech-tweet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2018\/08\/03\/aclu-catcalling-free-speech-tweet<\/a><br \/>\nIncredibly, the totes-not-evil company (the ones who were a number, and are now a bunch of letters) still has that tweet cached.<br \/>\nBut I don&#8217;t want politicians deciding what I can read or say.\u00a0\u00a0 I would like to ask the people working for reconstitution of the Byrd Organization how many people they plan to throw in cages for reading shit they haven&#8217;t blessed.<br \/>\nBut, hey, that might be treason, and good enough justification to execute me for treason.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This floated in front of me earlier today, but it&#8217;s the same sort of information reported last week. https:\/\/reason.com\/blog\/2018\/07\/31\/democrats-tech-policy-plans-leaked Discussions on and off on Facebook about Twitter shutting down accounts.
