{"id":2447,"date":"2020-03-03T16:46:11","date_gmt":"2020-03-03T21:46:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=2447"},"modified":"2020-03-03T16:46:11","modified_gmt":"2020-03-03T21:46:11","slug":"registering-dissent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2020\/03\/03\/registering-dissent\/","title":{"rendered":"Registering Dissent"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Much as I appreciate Katherine Mangu-Ward&#8217;s argument <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"against voting (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/reason.com\/2012\/10\/03\/your-vote-doesnt-count\/\" target=\"_blank\">against voting<\/a>, I did go vote in the Virginia Democratic Primary this afternoon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because some of the candidates, two in particular, were so terribly awful I felt the need to try to contribute to their early departure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I won&#8217;t name specifics, but I will say, &#8220;New England.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It does, however, feed into my still-alive idea of &#8220;<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"You Can Leave. (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"http:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=1703\" target=\"_blank\">You Can Leave.<\/a>&#8220;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Two of the leading candidates, again, &#8220;New England,&#8217; want to stop that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t like the things Google is doing with its search algorhythms?  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"can (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/duckduckgo.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">can<\/a> leave.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But the politicians have a problem with that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That freedom is the thing that candidates are trying to end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m not.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That might well make me a bad person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I don&#8217;t care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Much as I appreciate Katherine Mangu-Ward&#8217;s argument against voting, I did go vote in the Virginia Democratic Primary this afternoon.
