{"id":3138,"date":"2020-08-11T15:42:36","date_gmt":"2020-08-11T20:42:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=3138"},"modified":"2020-08-11T15:42:36","modified_gmt":"2020-08-11T20:42:36","slug":"eleven-6","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2020\/08\/11\/eleven-6\/","title":{"rendered":"Eleven"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Very long day at work, but I&#8217;m doing this because I committed to doing it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though I know I shouldn&#8217;t.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I&#8217;m thinking it might make me feel a bit better.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mmmmmyeah.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That&#8217;s what I&#8217;ll keep telling myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to look for news, then I remembered seeing this on Twitter:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed-twitter wp-block-embed is-type-rich is-provider-twitter\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\"><p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">This is a big deal.<br><br>After <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MayorBowser?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MayorBowser<\/a> had <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BlackLivesMatter?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BlackLivesMatter<\/a> painted in front of the White House, the actual <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DMVBlackLives?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DMVBlackLives<\/a> Matter organization painted &quot;Defund the Police&quot; next to it, in defiance of what they see as Bowser&#39;s lip service.<br><br>Now it appears she&#39;s paving over it. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/FQx0uMrJ1z\">https:\/\/t.co\/FQx0uMrJ1z<\/a><\/p>&mdash; Ford Fischer (@FordFischer) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/FordFischer\/status\/1293249995232153603?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 11, 2020<\/a><\/blockquote><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s make sure we don&#8217;t offend the blessed police union.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And Kamala is the VP selection is in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To paraphrase Michael Malice &#8212; who&#8217;s put more black people in prison, Joe Biden or Kamala Harris?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, which couple is more interesting to share a bottle of wine with &#8212; Don and Mike, or Joe and Kamala?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I kinda doubt Don and Mike drink, but I think they&#8217;d be less likely to lock people up for choosing to do it, so I don&#8217;t know&#8230;..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flashback time, and I have no earthly idea what this was about.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Man, that sucked. &#8211; 8\/11\/2003<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>So, I made it through, and now everybody has disappeared again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My life continues\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And as usual, I&#8217;m insomniac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Well, the wedding itself\u2026\u2026I&#8217;d never met any of her family other than one of her cousins who was a bridesmaid (and has <em>ahem<\/em> grown up since she was in high school), and her mother. As expected, there were many, many more of her family there than of mine. Things went off basically without a hitch. No cold feet or anything. But the entire time was torture for me, except when I ran out to get shaving cream to fix my brother&#8217;s car.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But even worse than the wedding was the constant probing about what&#8217;s up with my love life. The answer is &#8220;nothing&#8221; followed by &#8220;and I can deal with that okay.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>I was wondering what that was about, but, reading it more closely, it was about a wedding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um.  Yeah.  I&#8217;m not going to elaborate a lot more;  the marriage didn&#8217;t last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But shaving cream does do interesting things to a Ford&#8217;s paint job.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Very long day at work, but I&#8217;m doing this because I committed to doing it.
