{"id":3219,"date":"2020-11-15T12:56:00","date_gmt":"2020-11-15T17:56:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=3219"},"modified":"2020-11-15T12:56:00","modified_gmt":"2020-11-15T17:56:00","slug":"fifteen-9","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2020\/11\/15\/fifteen-9\/","title":{"rendered":"Fifteen"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Something I meant to write about during yesterday&#8217;s entry&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Discussion with one of my best friends about use of the restaurant delivery apps. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Yes, the restaurant delivery services sorta fuck restaurants.&nbsp;<br>BUT<br>Isn\u2019t the restaurant agreeing to those terms by offering its food there?<br>They can choose to not participate if they don\u2019t like the terms&#8230;.<br>Yeah, it\u2019d be better to find some way to spare the restaurant that cost, but they agreed to it.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m really not sure what to think or say about it.  These costs aren&#8217;t implemented by force;  the restaurants agree to pay them to sell that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the other side, governments <em><strong>are <\/strong><\/em>placing arbitrary limits on what these companies can charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the restaurants lobbied for those caps, they&#8217;re the ones violating the nonaggression principle.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He did finally get back to me, and said that it&#8217;s kind of a one-way transaction.  The delivery services set up services for a restaurant whether or not the restaurant had sought, or agreed to, the plan participation.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then there&#8217;s little that can be done for dispute resolution, because of the credit card companies involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I haven&#8217;t been paying all that close attention to what the CC companies are doing.  I had kind of barely kept track, after hearing what they were doing to the evil <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.lewrockwell.com\/2019\/01\/no_author\/credit-card-companies-have-no-business-playing-second-amendment-censors\/\" target=\"_blank\">gun companies<\/a>, but really wasn&#8217;t tracking all that closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a society that&#8217;s practically cashless now, it disturbs me that companies can just refuse service to other companies based on whatever whim they&#8217;ve chosen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Imagine, if you will, a situation where people convicted of crimes weren&#8217;t allowed to even have cash&#8230;..?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Halfway finished.  What&#8217;s gone right, what could be better?<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t know.  I&#8217;ve been pretty good about making sure that things get done.  I&#8217;ve probably short-armed a few entries, sure, but I have written a few things about which I can be proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Obviously my scarred brain has been working overtime.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I worry about things that may not affect me that directly, while failing to notice other things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The MTA on ^H was down for just over two weeks.  Oops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not that anybody is reading or commuting here, anyway.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I&#8217;m going to be on the downslope of the month, so there&#8217;s that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous periods, I would have been very relieved that I was more than halfway through.  Now, however, it&#8217;s just another thing that I need to do for&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lockdown world.  Nothing to look forward to.
