Maybe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything went out at around 0100.  I&#8217;ve been up and down trying to get it working ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What can you do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The appointment for the tech tomorrow is going to stay on.  Still getting well below what we should be getting, but at least there&#8217;s something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am tired, but I think I&#8217;m going to try to stay awake until <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Going to recycle a survey from 2005&#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Questions in bold, old responses in italics, new in plain text&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. What\u2019s the last thing you ate?<br><\/strong><em>Beef Jerkey. Yes, I know, nutritious, but I can sleep, so I went to the store.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A Coconut Built Bar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>2. What\u2019s your favourite cheese?<br><\/strong><em>Probably Monterey Jack.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>3. What\u2019s your favourite fish?<br><\/strong><em>Oh, I don\u2019t know that I have a favorite. I\u2019m not much a fan of striped bass, but I like pretty much anything else. Probably, locally, my fave is flounder. I like fried mullet when I\u2019m back home (yes, we eat mullet down there, stop laughing, it\u2019s really good)<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kind of open to any and all these days<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>4. What\u2019s your favourite fruit?<br><\/strong><em>Grape. White.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t eat much these days.  I like various berries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>5. When, if ever, did you start liking olives?<br><\/strong><em>I\u2019ve always liked green olives. I\u2019d steal them out of my mom\u2019s martini glass when I was very young (like four). Black olives I developed a taste for sometime later.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unchanged.  My wife, who I don&#8217;t think was very big on them when we got together, has introduced me to a bunch of different ones.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>6. When, if ever, did you start liking beer?<br><\/strong><em>Around fourteen, when it became legal for me to drink it.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t think that&#8217;s changed.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>7. When, if ever, did you start liking shellfish?<br><\/strong><em>I\u2019m a fuckin\u2019 Cajun. I didn\u2019t have a choice.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll eat pretty much everything out of the water.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>8. What was the best thing your mum\/dad\/guardian used to make?<br><\/strong><em>My mom is a great cook; it\u2019s really hard to pick just one thing. I think she\u2019s most proud of her Pecan pies.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;d rather not talk about this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>9. What\u2019s the native specialty of your hometown?<br><\/strong><em>Hm. That\u2019s a good question.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really still have no idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>10. What\u2019s your comfort food?<br><\/strong><em>Beer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Waffle House.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>11. What\u2019s your favourite type of chocolate?<br><\/strong><em>Oh, without a doubt, Kinder Schokolade.\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/www.kinderschokolade.de\/\" target=\"_blank\">Link<\/a>\u00a0if you speak German. I haven\u2019t been able to find it here in a very long time.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>No idea if that link still works.  My take on chocolate has changed since seeing a Shmoocon presentation years ago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>12. How do you like your steak?<br><\/strong><em>rare to medium rare<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>13. How do you like your burger?<br><\/strong><em>well-done with cheese.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;ll take just about anything at this point.  I don&#8217;t want an egg on it, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>14. How do you like your eggs?<br><\/strong><em>in the recipe enough where I can\u2019t taste them. gaggs are nasty.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See last.  I still don&#8217;t like eggs. How do you like your potatoes?<br><\/strong><em>Kartofflen Knodel (German potato dumplings)<br>I\u2019m also really fond of bratkartofflen, although I haven\u2019t been able to find a good recipe for it. Essentially, it\u2019s potatoes that are boiled until they\u2019re pretty much cooked, then diced and fried with onions and parsley in bacon grease. Healthy!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not real particular.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>16. How do you take your coffee?<br><\/strong><em>I don\u2019t at all anymore.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just cream<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>17. How do you take your tea?<br><\/strong><em>Not big on tea, either.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Really depends.  I still don&#8217;t drink very much at all.  I did home some sweetened tea when I was down in the Gulf Coast Autonomous Zone a couple of weeks ago.  Just regular sweetened.  My mother, the native, had unsweetended.  I don&#8217;t know if that was a dietary restriction, or what.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>18. What\u2019s your favourite mug?<br><\/strong><em>Being neither a coffee or tea drinker, I\u2019d have to say a beer mug.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, I&#8217;m not sure what this is about.  I do like my Initech coffee mug, though it is a little small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>19. What\u2019s your biscuit or cookie of choice?<br><\/strong><em>NutterButter<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really don&#8217;t eat those too often anymore.  I did have some mildly-ginger-flavored breakfast things the other day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>20. What\u2019s your ideal breakfast?<br><\/strong><em>Kirsten Dunst.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, I have no idea why I answered it that way back then.  These days, I rarely have anything more than coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>21. What\u2019s your ideal sandwich?<br><\/strong><em>Fried Shrimp Po\u2019 Boy, dressed and pressed.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Muffaletta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>22. What\u2019s your ideal pizza?<br><\/strong><em>Pepperoni on a crust that\u2019s thin, but not flaky in the middle, then yeasty on the outside. There\u2019s a couple of greek places around here who get it right.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>23. What\u2019s your ideal pie (sweet or savoury)?<br><\/strong><em>Key Lime. omgjizz<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Uh?  I&#8217;m still partial to Key Lime, though.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>24. What\u2019s your ideal salad?<br><\/strong><em>Never been real big on salad. It\u2019s kind of something that fills you up so you don\u2019t eat too much good food.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m really awed these days by professionally-prepared AND DRESSED salads.  To me, that&#8217;s a sign that you&#8217;ve got a kitchen staff with half a clue.  All you need to add, as the eater, is maybe some salt and pepper.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>25. What food do you always like to have in the fridge?<br><\/strong><em>Beer<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yogurt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>26. What food do you always like to have in the freezer?<br><\/strong><em>Wings<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really don&#8217;t have a big freezer.  I do like to have some vanilla ice cream.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>27. What food do you always like to have in the cupboard?<br><\/strong><em>Soup<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There it is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>28. What spices can you not live without?<br><\/strong><em>Salt, pepper, tabasco, cayenne, file.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pretty much salt and pepper.  I do like to have some hot sauces around.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>29. What sauces can you not live without?<br><\/strong><em>Probably canned tomato, because when I cook, I tend to use it a lot.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>See last. Where do you buy most of your food?<br><\/strong><em>Supermarket<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My wife is adamant about doing all of it, herself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>31. What piece of kitchen equipment could you not live without?<br><\/strong><em>Nothing, really. I do love, however, my fryer, and my George Foreman grill. Especially the latter\u2026the neighbors look at you really weird when you fire up the gas grill outside at three in the morning.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same.  I would say I use either my cast iron skillet or my kettle most often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>32. What meats have you eaten besides cow, pig and poultry?<br><\/strong><em>Lamb\/mutton, squirrel, deer, opossum, turtle, alligator, snake, rabbit, snails, fish eggs.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There&#8217;s been others I should probably add, but they&#8217;re not coming immediately to mind at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>33. What\u2019s the thing you ate that you picked in the wild?<br><\/strong><em>Oh, lots of things, but mostly blackberries when I was a kid in Germany. Too many will do severe intestinal damage, however. Don\u2019t eat too many!<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I honestly have no idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>34. When it comes to distilled liquor, I would say my most frequently-consumed is Gin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>36. What\u2019s your fast food restaurant of choice, and what do you usually order?<br><\/strong><em>Of choice? Hmmm\u2026.I would probably have to go with Sonic and a chili dog with tater tots. I hardly ever get over there, however, as whenever I\u2019m doing fast food it\u2019s like 2am. Taco Bell is the only thing open.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I eat so little fast food these days it&#8217;s almost now worth answering.  That said, when doing fast food, I try to go with whatever is the signature thing of whatever place I&#8217;m ordering from.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>39. What\u2019s the next thing you\u2019ll eat?<br><\/strong><em>NFC. Supposed to go out to dinner with friends, but don\u2019t know where.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think my wife has something planned for dinner tonight.  She was supposed to be making, I think, Ratatouille.  Or maybe some fish.  Dunno.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>40. What do you normally have for breakfast?<br><\/strong><em>Nada<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Normally just coffee.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>41. What do you normally have for lunch?<br><\/strong><em>Nada<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If I have anything, it&#8217;s pretty small.  Nuts.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>42. What do you normally have for dinner?<br><\/strong><em>Nada. I eat one meal a day, spread out by courses that I eat at work. I normally have a starch of some kind that I eat first (rice, potatoes, corn, bag of chips\u2026), shortly after I get to work at 9pm. Around midnight, I have whatever hot thing I\u2019ve brought with me (soup, or some leftovers\u2026.anything I can throw in the microwave). Around 2:30, I\u2019ll have my snack, which is something sweeter\u2026.peanut butter crackers, piece of fruit, or if i\u2019m being bad (or was in a hurry), a candy bar. :-\/<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*shrug*<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>43. What do you normally have for snacks?<br><\/strong><em>See above. Although if I\u2019m starving some other time, I try to go with something that\u2019s high energy\u2026..hence the beef jerky, peanuts, that sort of thing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nuts, yogurt, protein bars, cheese.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>44. The four veggies you like most are:<br><\/strong><em>potatoes<br>corn<br>onions<br>peppers<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Gonna go full pedant here;  peppers are a fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>45. What fruit and vegetable do you like the least?<br><\/strong><em>I hate cantaloupe\u2026for the veggies\u2026.would have to be the squashes (although I guess those are fruits, too, technically). Eggplant, zucchini, ick.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, I&#8217;m not sure that this is really accurate.  I&#8217;ll try just about anything.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>46. What\u2019s your favourite chocolate bar?<br><\/strong><em>Mr. Goodbar. You can\u2019t go wrong with chocolate and peanuts.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m surprised I said this back then, but it&#8217;s still true.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>47. What\u2019s your favourite dessert?<br><\/strong><em>I\u2019m a sucker for custard-like things. Like I said above\u2026key lime pie, cheesecake, that sort of thing.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still.  I&#8217;ve gained appreciation for things like bread pudding, too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>48. What\u2019s your favourite drink?<br><\/strong><em>bleifrei: Diet Dr. Pepper<br>mixed: Margarita<br>straight: Single Malt Scotch.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Non-alcoholic:  Water.  Mixed:  Gin and Tonic.  Straight:  I&#8217;ve become particularly fond of Port lately.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>49. What\u2019s your favourite snack?<br><\/strong><em>Dunno. Probably something with peanuts. Like I said, peanut butter crackers, payday bar, straight roasted peanuts\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pistachios.  Almonds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>50. What\u2019s your favourite gum flavour?<br><\/strong><em>Peppermint<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Same.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>51. What\u2019s your favourite potato chip flavour?<br><\/strong><em>Sour Cream and Onion<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Really depends. What\u2019s your favourite soup?<br><\/strong><em>File (I don\u2019t remember the little accent symbol right now) Gumbo\u2026.chicken and andouille.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Really like just about anything these days.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em><br><\/em><strong>54. What food do you hate?<br><\/strong><em>Quiche<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yesh.  I still don&#8217;t like eggs.  That said, I could probably choke down quiche more-easily than, say, some done over-easy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><br><strong>55. What\u2019s your favourite restaurant?<br><\/strong><em>There\u2019s this little pub I like to go to up the road a bit. It\u2019s cheap, they\u2019ve got good beer, and a fireplace on cold nights. (A couple of you will probably know what I\u2019m talking about when I say it\u2019s at the foot of the Coleman Bridge).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, I know what I was talking about there.  No, it&#8217;s definitely not that anymore.  Considering what I might like for my birthday.  Hmm.  <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bistrotducoin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Bistrot du Coin<\/a>?  Maybe.  The local Indian joint that delivers?
