{"id":4031,"date":"2022-11-22T15:33:01","date_gmt":"2022-11-22T20:33:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=4031"},"modified":"2022-11-22T15:33:01","modified_gmt":"2022-11-22T20:33:01","slug":"twenty-two-11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2022\/11\/22\/twenty-two-11\/","title":{"rendered":"Twenty-two"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><em>Dates that will live in Infamy<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think if you&#8217;re at all familiar with US history, you get where I&#8217;m going with this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This did come up recently on a podcast that Justin Campbell did <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/fact-check-this-podcast\/id1537895810\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Fact Check This<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I was doing research into this as an undergrad, there was an interesting split among the demographers.  I consider myself Generation X.  The US Census Bureau agrees.  Some of the academics, however, don&#8217;t.  My parents were (typing that is a bit strange, seeing as how my mother is still alive&#8230;) early Baby Boomers.  I was born before the kickoff of the 1980 campaign.  I remember bits and pieces of the Reagan reelection campaign.  The teachers were in the <s>smoking<\/s>teachers&#8217; lounge watching Christa McAuliffe on 1\/28\/1986.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How much cultural relevance would <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Startup.com\" target=\"_blank\">startup.com<\/a> have to anyone born after 1980?  How about <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Office_Space\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Office Space<\/a>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I apologize that this is kind of scatterbrained.  I&#8217;m tired.  But I did get my recharge this morning, so maybe I can enjoy Thanksgiving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What do I do for Small Business Saturday?  How many of those are left after so many were destroyed to save people from the scourge of COVID?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What is the shared moment for the generation born from 1995 &#8211; 2010?  Why doesn&#8217;t that generation also run twenty years like the Boomers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really don&#8217;t know.
