{"id":4110,"date":"2023-01-05T15:51:49","date_gmt":"2023-01-05T20:51:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=4110"},"modified":"2023-01-05T15:51:49","modified_gmt":"2023-01-05T20:51:49","slug":"on-forgiveness","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2023\/01\/05\/on-forgiveness\/","title":{"rendered":"On forgiveness"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Something I&#8217;ve been mulling lately is how long it&#8217;s appropriate to hold a grudge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Not sure what got me on this line of thinking, but it did go into thinking about companies I&#8217;m refusing to forgive for things they did during COVID.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I have relatives who probably never bought another Nestl\u00e9 product after the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/1977_Nestl%C3%A9_boycott\" target=\"_blank\">boycott<\/a>.  Did that go too far?  I mean, hearing about this would have been well into the 1980s.  (I really don&#8217;t remember many current events before about 1985;  I remember, vaguely, worry about my dad with the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Air_Florida_Flight_90\" target=\"_blank\">crash into the bridge out of DC<\/a>;  my dad had been TDY at Ft. McNair that day.  A bit with the Beruit Embassy bombing, Reagan&#8217;s reelection&#8230;)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But when do you stop being angry with companies for overbearing things they did?  Is it okay to permanently withhold your business?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I do try to forgive people who&#8217;ve wronged me, but there&#8217;s some I&#8217;ll certainly never speak to again if I can&#8230;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>*<strong><em>STFW for this<\/em><\/strong>*<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Hmph.  I&#8217;m going to send <a href=\"https:\/\/www.psychologytoday.com\/us\/blog\/psychological-trauma-coping-and-resilience\/202203\/cultivating-forgiveness-during-covid-19\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this <\/a>to my psychologist to see what she thinks.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t know.
