{"id":4117,"date":"2023-01-21T11:55:19","date_gmt":"2023-01-21T16:55:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=4117"},"modified":"2023-01-21T11:55:19","modified_gmt":"2023-01-21T16:55:19","slug":"more-less-moose-than-ever","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2023\/01\/21\/more-less-moose-than-ever\/","title":{"rendered":"More Less Moose Than Ever"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>My wife is throwing in some comments here and there as I&#8217;m watching.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Watching <a href=\"https:\/\/shmoocon.org\/speakers\/#mellon\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this<\/a> right now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Again, I go back to my thoughts of the past few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Government is not going to fix anything.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I understand, and somewhat appreciate, actually, what he&#8217;s saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He touches on the not-criminalizing-civil-disputes stipulation, but that&#8217;s what fucking happens every single time you get government involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Worry about &#8220;over-criminalizing&#8221; things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What happens when you criminalize <em>anything<\/em>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Men with guns.  Ultimately that&#8217;s what you&#8217;ve done when you go to the government to solve an issue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You stuck the bad sections about &#8220;downloading and copyrighting.&#8221;  Okay?  How the hell does <em>anything<\/em> work if you&#8217;ve outlawed those?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Burn this book<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yeah, and if someone can use tools to recite the ideas on to paper, it&#8217;s back.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And what does government do, then?  They kill people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I appreciate his role as an attorney, certainly, but I don&#8217;t think there&#8217;s any benefit to enacting more spaghetti treaties, laws, and regulations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Do something straightforward to address a particular problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Everything should be temporal.  Do something to address a particular issue for a limited period of time.  If the limited term doesn&#8217;t resolve what the remedy attempted to fix, renew it.  If it didn&#8217;t fix it, pass something different.  If the problem went away on its own, great;  move on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Cato<\/a>, an organization to which I donate, regularly talks about the Wilson Era <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cato.org\/publications\/policy-analysis\/jones-act-burden-america-can-no-longer-bear\" target=\"_blank\">Jones Act.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why is that law still in effect?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Move on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He also talked about signatories just ignoring parts of a ratified treaty, even after attempting to have problematic sections removed, just ignore the parts that don&#8217;t fit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I&#8217;m shocked.  <strong>Shocked<\/strong>.  It&#8217;s almost as if treaties, being figments of government, don&#8217;t work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Happy to hear his opposition to RealID.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Kind of speaks to where I push back agains the zOMG CBDC!!1! crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even in the most-authoritarian places, people exchange with each other.  There&#8217;s trade among the Norks.  There[s trade inside the most brutal prisons.  People trade with each other;  it&#8217;s what we do as humans.  Yes, you can have my eggs.  I don&#8217;t like eggs.  Even if you don[t have anything to offer me immediately, you can have them.  Maybe you&#8217;ll help me with something in the future.
