{"id":4486,"date":"2024-02-10T12:22:40","date_gmt":"2024-02-10T17:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/?p=4486"},"modified":"2024-02-10T12:22:40","modified_gmt":"2024-02-10T17:22:40","slug":"back-on-track-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/control-h.org\/index.php\/2024\/02\/10\/back-on-track-2\/","title":{"rendered":"Back On Track"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I think my jaunt to the Gulf Coast in a few weeks is the only thing on my calendar to which I&#8217;m really looking forward.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Maybe I did reword that sentence because I was thinking of something.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Never end a sentence with a preposition!\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/Q4XCZfkGF8k?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Kind of distracted this week with an insane work week for both me, and my wife.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Focus kind of disrupted by news from my old boss, who I&#8217;d emailed with an odd story about a radio tower being stolen in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=Alabamastan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alabamastan<\/a>, about the death of the co-owner of the radio stations where I&#8217;d worked pretty much through college, and for a souple of years after.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.legacy.com\/us\/obituaries\/pilotonline\/name\/lisa-sinclair-obituary?id=54127535\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Lisa <\/a>was always very nice to me, and I&#8217;m very sad she&#8217;s gone.  The first time I went back to visit after I&#8217;d left for the wild world where I&#8217;ve been for almost twenty years, she saw me in the lobby, and excitedly waved me in to her office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>How do you like your new job?!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I really like the work I&#8217;m doing.  Not very happy with the company, but doing interesting work.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Her (then newly-ex) husband chimed in wryly, &#8220;They&#8217;re missin&#8217; payroll.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Um.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yep.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I don&#8217;t know that I&#8217;ve got a ton here about my travails that&#8217;d follow with that company.  I&#8217;m not dissatisfied that last news I had about he company president, he was living with his daughter in San Diego after his hippy wife had left him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Jackin&#039; It in San Diego (Original Music) - SOUTH PARK\" width=\"580\" height=\"326\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/LKwW8PNZpOQ?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>No, I&#8217;m not going to withdraw the aspersion about her.  No shit, he actually was making business decisions based on what her medium in Sedona had instructed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All that said, I was able to gain some knowledge while dealing with that less-than-ideal situation.  Hopefully it&#8217;s served me somewhat later in my work life.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Towards the end of my time with that company, I was cashing my paycheck <em>at their bank<\/em>, then driving to my nearest credit union an hour away to deposit the cash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Travelling on a crowded Interstate with hundreds of dollars in your pocket is more than a little uncomfortable.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But I got through it all.  While I have some ill-will, none of it is directed to the radio world I left in 2005.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>Listened to <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/david-stockman-trumps-war-on-capitalism-and-freedom\/id1485021241?i=1000643715097\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">this<\/a> during the first part of my writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I understand where Stockman is coming from, and generally agree with his analysis.  I don&#8217;t agree that RFK Jr. is the answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Vote against the worst.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Looking at what&#8217;ll be on my ballot in November, <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Biden<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Trump<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>RFK Jr.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cornel West might well be on the ballot.  The Libertarian Party likely won&#8217;t be because of the unmitigated disaster the Mises Caucus has unleashed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Much like I would have if I was voting in the Nevada Republican primary, I&#8217;d probably vote &#8220;none of the Above.&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I should go try and prepare some for that big football game that shall not be named.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Don&#8217;t really care who wins.
