I noticed that it was my mom&#8217;s first anniversary day as a widow.  Both of the dogs had died, so she was living in this huge house by herself.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Knowing how flaky the electricity could be at that house during storms, we were cooking up a lot of the things in the fridge that&#8217;d probably go bad if the power was out for a few days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I hadn&#8217;t brought up the date, but I could tell that my mom was a bit down.
