Lots of consumption of various reaction to the Fauci testimony. Good stuff, as usual, from Nellie Bowles over at TheFP. I’m not surprised it’s not getting more press. Saying, “yeah, we were wrong” is very tough.

Instead, let’s just memory-hole what was said back then. It’s important that people don’t remember, right?
I could go through admission of one’s own wrongdoing and the harm it caused being the first step, but, why?

Revisiting what i wrote about ten years ago.
1. Do you believe in soul mates? If so, do you believe we each have just one soul mate?
My answer isn’t as forcefully-affirmative as it was before, but there are core values that really don’t change. When those two sets marry up, it works. (*groan*). Is this a case of Chomsky’s creationist grammar argument? I don’t know, but there’s still underlying reflexive reactions to things, situations, that can’t be turned off. So, maybe, still?
2. What would you do if you could live a day without consequences?
I have no idea what I was worried about back then. But, even free of some of my previous restrictions; I still haven’t gone and gotten stoned even though I probably could.
So. Why not just write whatever comes to mind? Because there are fleeting thoughts that don’t need to be recorded, much less memorialized
The Fifth Column folks had an interview with the Harper’s editor about why he doesn’t want to go digital, and is worried about AI consuming its content. This went well with the thing TheFP reposted yesterday.
You can’t stop it. Even if you’re only on paper. Even if that paper is stuck at the bottom of The Dead Sea.
Information Wants To Be Free. Technology is part of the way that that happens. But, also, so would Multiple Discovery.
There’s no easy answers, but, to me, calling the men with guns is never the correct option.
