Frenchie French on the take

Bill Gertz of the Washington Times, again, on top of things. This time, the French were paid off to thwart the US in the UN Security Council.
I guess this one passes that “international test,” Kerry speaks of……..
The US should not cowtow to the criminals in the UN anymore. Rather, we should withdraw from it completely. It’s time. It failed. Just like the League of Nations. It was a farce from the beginning, however, as it never strove to really ensure personal freedom around the world, despite its comical declaration of human rights (which can be suspended completely if a UN goal is deemed of greater importance). If international cooperation is desired, a multinational organization needs to be formed that explicitly excludes non-free countries. Lay out objective standards — if there are nations in the world who do not meet those standards, they cannot be members, nor may they receive aid from free countries.

OMG alroc-style

Miller Lite
MILLER LITE: You’re not pretentious, but you have
certain expectations of the people you spend
time with. You’re a fun person, though, and an
unconscious flirt. People enjoy being around
you, even if you don’t treat them kindly. A
beer which is an only choice for some, but
liked all around, for a person who is picky
themselves but well regarded.

Nailing it down

It’s quite interesting to see someone who is on the end of the spectrum arrive at the same place as you. I’ve linked a few Christopher Hitchens articles here before — Hitchens, prior to 9/11 was an unabashed socialist, and I couldn’t really stand to read him.
But he gets it — he understands the threat the world faces. For everything there’s a decorum — redressing political grievances is totally legitimate. Even with violence sometimes, when warranted. There’s a difference between acts of war and terrorism or genocide. It’s not difficult to figure out what the difference is — but the people who fundamentally hate the American system choose not to make that definition. In the context of 9/11, perhaps attacking the Pentagon was a legitimate act of war….doing it with a plane carrying innocent civilians is where they cross the line.
Anyhow, I found a good interview with Hitchens, where he discusses some of this.
Now, I wonder what Mister “negotiate at any cost!” Kerry thinks of these views…..

Stupidity is everywhere

WAVY just played a clip of some retarded woman during Ivan who didn’t evacuate. She called 911 when she thought the roof was going to come off, and wanted a fire truck to come out and get her.
WTF was WAVY running this blubbering bitch? (Because it’s dramatic, or something)
I don’t know how many times I’ve spelled it out on the air preparing for a hurricane. If you’re in an evacuation zone, you’re on your own if you choose to stay. If you die, tough shit. Survival of the fittest. Part of that is not taking unnecessary risks. If you take a stupid risk and die, so be it. If you take a stupid risk, and are scared, I don’t want to hear you whining about it.
Shame, shame, WAVY.

Genius

This CD is beyond good or bad. It is from a world where concepts such as “unique” and “indispensible” live happily alongside “hilariously, brain-tearingly wrong”.
Read the review of Has Been. OMG, I listened to the first track on a website…..cover of “Common People” with Joe Jackson.
Indescribable. And I love it! I actually have a reason to go to the record store on Tuesday. Strange.

Air America, Orkut

So, my community, “Air America Deathwatch” appears to have been deleted by Orkut. I’m sure someone probably reported it as bogus, but I didn’t get thrown in Orkut Jail, which tends to happen over these kinds of things.
I decided to look a bit more at Air America’s ratings now, since they’ve managed to be on the air six months now…..
Minneapolis/St. Paul
Air America is on KSMM/WMIN. KSTP and WCCO are the big talkers in the market.
Al Franken and his Public Radio gigglebitch are both from Minnesota.
KSTP and WCCO have a combined 12.8. KSMM and WMIN have a combined 0.8.
In New York City, WLIB is back to where it was before AA made it the flagship station (it was broadcasting in like Korean, I think), and WABC still has over three times as many listeners.
Yep, this is a successful operation.
And once again, it proves not that liberals can’t do talk radio — that’s not what it proves at all. It proves that radio amateurs can’t do talk radio.
Alan Colmes is a good talk show host. I much prefer him to some of the right-wing idiots (hello, mister weiner!). Al Franken is a shitty talk show host, saddled with a public radio leech who whispers into her tinny low-budget microphone.
Randi Rhodes is barely adequate. She’s maybe good enough to handle an afternoon show in a mid-sized market.
Don’t get me started on the other hosts, it’s just not worth the effort to type….

Food

Zataran’s has started selling rice bowl jibbies, ala, Uncle Ben’s. I’ve been trying them out… The jambalayas are a bit over-seasoned, as most commercial Cajun food is. But they’re still pretty good for frozen food.
The red beans and rice, however, are actually really good! Like, I’ve been unimpressed with most commercial red beans and rice offereings (Popeyes’ are pretty pathetic), but these are actually pretty close to what you’d make, or get in a place on the Gulf Coast.
I’m awake. I ended up having to go back to work this morning. It sucked. Then I had a weird dream (actually, it’s one that I wouldn’t mind having come true, but I won’t share…tough), and woke up from that.
Bleh.
I should attempt to go back to sleep, I think. Imma be worthless at work tonight.
