Selective Reporting

Barbara Ehrenreich has a column in today’s New York Times regarding Ralph Nader’s candidacy. Of course, as you would expect from the Times, it’s tripe, blaming Nader for Gore’s loss in 2000 (it didn’t really matter, because the Ehrenreich didn’t think Bush could be that much worse than Gore), and bitching that he’s running again in ’04.
Convieniently missing from the column is the fact that 2000 was Nader’s second run as a Green. But far be it from a columnist in the Times to let the facts get in the way of anything.

Whoopi

“America’s heart and soul is freedom of expression without fear of reprisal,”
No, Whoopi. America’s heart and soul is freedom of expression, then taking responsibility for whatever reprisals come from that expression. You have the right to say pretty much anything. You don’t have the right to make people tolerate it. You stepped over the line, now you’re paying the consequences. Deal. It’s what happens in America. Ask Trent Lott. Ask Rush Limbaugh. Ask Kobe Bryant.
“The fact that I am no longer the spokesman for SlimFast makes me sad, but not as sad as someone trying to punish me for exercising my right as an American to speak my mind.”
Haha. Nice. Waaaaaaaa. I’m a victim! Bullshit. Freedom and personal responsibility. I know they’re foreign concepts to the left, but they’re the real values of America. Liberty, not license.

Insightful

I know my writing’s been utter shit lately, with little interesting to say. I had a thought the other night about all the celebrities who support John Freakin’ Kerry, and well, who supports George Bush?
Pat Boone. No shit. It’s up on Newsmax.
I liked his cover of Paradise City.
I bought a George Strait CD. I’ve been listening to Kick-FM lately. Sad. Sad. Sad.
So, with little more to say, I do have one thought for this morning……
Key Lime Pie pwns.

Stuck in the dock

I got a classic app that remains in the dock with an arrow underneath after I killed it.
Yah.
It happened with something else the other day, too, where two icons showed up when I minimized, then one hung around for no apparent reason.
WTF

Hmm

George H.W. Bush nicknamed Clinton and Gore “Ozone and Bozo.” I think I’ve figured out the nicknames for Kerry and Edwards.
“Botox and Blow-dry.”
I’m not quite sure what to make of this choice. Yes, of course, it was expected. Edwards is kind of interesting. He’s got that nice southern drawl and shining smile. And he spews class warfare and makes people feel good about it.
Oh well, he’s another nice big target for the Republicans to skewer. Cheney is a tough nut to crack for the Democrats, because the Halliburton stuff was either a) after he left, or b) just rumor an innuendo. Bush is an easier target.
It doesn’t change where I am, really. If Kerry had selected a sane Democrat, Vilsack would have been a good choice, it would have tempered my thoughts about him a bit, perhaps. I’m still kind of in the mode where Bush is still the best choice of an absolutely horrid field of candidates. If I do vote, it will be reluctantly for Bush.
Ick.

Bewitched

So, I saw that there’s going to be a Bewitched movie. Will Ferrel is playing Darren, which I can kinda deal with. Nicole Kidman is Samantha. Hmm. I dunno about that one.
Elizabeth Montgomery was a major hottie. The directors of Bewitched often had her dressed up in nice little nighties. She also wasn’t rail-thin. See this pinup. Nicole Kidman, umm, sometimes I dig, sometimes I don’t. She seems like she’s going for the anorexic look lately. As is evidenced by this pic.
I think Reese Witherspoon or Renee Zellweger would have been better choices.
Yes, I know, I’m not normally mister pop culture. But I have reasons on this one. 🙂

RedScat^H^H^H^H^H^HFedora

I’m going to install Fedora Core 2 on my notebook. We shall see what happens. I ditched RedScat a little over two years ago. Aside from an aborted attempt to install RedHat 9 (it gave me a media error, which pissed me off, so I ditched it), I haven’t touched it since. Supposedly many of the long-time RedHat folks have switched over, blah blah blah.
It’s worth a shot, I guess.
